THE COLLECTION OF FRAXINUS L. (OLEACEAE) SPECIES IN DONETSK BOTANICAL GARDEN

The paper describes the history of foundation of Fraxinus L. collection in Donetsk Botanical Garden, beginning from 1971. At present, the collection includes 9 species and 3 ornamental forms of Fraxinus L., with the only species (F. excelsior L.) representing the native flora, the rest being introduced species. Our study focused on the resistance and ornamentality of the introduced species of Fraxinus L. in the steppe conditions of our region. The most perspective species and forms, namely F. lanceolata, F. oxycarpa, F. pennsylvanica, F. syriaca, F. excelsior f. globosa, F. excelsior var. diversifolia, are recommended for the intensive landscaping use in Donbass.
