THE PROBLEMS OF SCIENTIFIC SUPPORT FOR DAGESTAN HORTICULTURE IN THE SHORT TERM

Horticulture is one of the leading branches in agro-industrial complex in the Republic of Dagestan. In terms of soil climatic conditions, the region has a huge potential for cultivating various fruit agricultures. 5.1 % of all orchards plots in the Russian Federation and 4 % of total fruits production are the share of the republic. The paper conducted a general review of a horticultural state in Dagestan in the different historical periods, which was characterized by both economic recoveries and recessions. In the short term, horticultural development in the region will be defined by considerable accumulation of fruit production volumes of own production, basing on progressive technologies, modern equipment, as well as on the work and production organization forms. In this regard, the important part is assigned to scientific developments. Horticultural progress in Dagestan is mainly defined by the scientific developments made in the FSBSI “Dagestan Research Institute of Agriculture named after F. G. Kisriyev”. The paper defined the main research directions demanding an in-depth study.
