Elms (Ulmus L., Ulmaceae) occupy a leading place in the landscape gardening of Saint Petersburg. According to the results of the survey conducted in the city, 1,461 foci of Dutch elm disease are currently registered and marked on the map. According to the monitoring carried out from 2009 to the end of 2017, the number of Dutch elm disease has increased six times. The main reasons for this include the following: delays in cleaning the infected trees, ignoring trunks populated by elm bark beetles when harvesting dead wood, leaving planted trees with elm bark beetles’ larvae hibernating under the bark.
