The paper presents data on the first record of a dangerous invasive grapevine pest – Japanese grape leafhopper Arboridia kakogawana (Matsumura, 1932) (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Typhlocybinae) on the territory of Donbass. The penetration of the species into the region of Donbass probably was as result of self-dispersal from the Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation about 2–3 years ago. The habitats of leafhopper’s mass reproduction were founded in Donetsk, as well as in the Amvrosiyevskiy and Novoazovskiy districts. The ecological and biological features of the species and the history of its penetration and distribution in the European part of Russia are given, the level of harmfulness is assessed and methods of detection and control measures are described.
