FORMATION OF A HYBRID FUND OF HERBACEOUS ORNAMENTAL PERENNIAL PLANTS AT THE FSBSI “RUSSIAN BREEDING AND TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF HORTICULTURE AND NURSERY BREEDING”

The paper provides information on the composition of bioresource irises, phloxes and lilies collected at the Russian Breeding and Technological Institute of Horticulture and Nursery Breeding as the basis for the gene pool formation; also it represents the breeding directions for these ornamental herbaceous perennial plants, providing the characteristics of their growth and development and duration of the virginal period. Economic valuable traits in representatives of these plants genus of different origin are considered. Along with regular replenishment of collections with new species, forms and cultivars, the creation of a hybrid fund is considered as a necessary condition for preserving the gene pool and improving the range of ornamental perennial plants in open ground.
