The paper presents Research findings of the Russian Research Institute of Floriculture and Subtropical Crops for the year 2019. The investigations were carried out in accordance with the State task and the plan of research work on 7 scientific topics in the framework of the existing scientific schools. At the end of 2019, the genetic collections of the Institute numbered 2 600 cultivars of flower, ornamental, subtropical and southern fruit crops, including in vitro collection of 88 genotypes; among them there are 57 species and cultivars of flower and ornamental crops; 6 endemic species of the Western Caucasus and 25 cultivar samples of perennial fruit and subtropical crops. Extensive molecular and genetic studies of plant resource collections have been initiated. Documents for 10 new cultivars of flower crops – freesias, anemones, pelargoniums were submitted to the State Cultivar Commission of the Russian Federation. The investigations have been continued in such fields as biotechnology, plant protection, agrochemistry, soil science, development of technologies for cultivating subtropical, southern fruit and flower crops, study of plant adaptability and plant biochemistry mechanisms. In 2019, the research of the Institute's scientists was supported by 6 RFBR grants and one RPF grant. 5 conferences were held on the basis of the Institute. Documents have been prepared and the conception of development Program has been worked out for the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution “Federal Research Centre “Subtropical Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences”.
