Balkan anemone belongs to the Buttercup family (Ranunculaceae), the genus Anemone includes about 85 species distributed in the temperate zone of the Northern hemisphere, as well as in North Africa. About forty species of anemones grow in our country. Floral buds in leaf rosettes of ‘Rosea’ cultivar were observed 2.5 weeks after mass shoots, and in ‘White Splendor’ cultivar this phase most often coincided with mass shoots. Floral initiation of experimental Balkan anemone plants falls at the end of February – beginning of March. Like the budding phase, flowering in ‘White Splendor’ cultivar begins earlier than in ‘Rosea’ cultivar. Flowering of ‘White Splendor’ cultivar lasted on average 8 weeks, while that of ‘Rosea’ cultivar – lasted 6 weeks. The habitus of ‘White Splendor’ cultivar is larger than that of ‘Rosea’ (by 3.3 cm in diameter and 1.8 cm in height on average) according to the results obtained in the experiment. The height of flower stalks in ‘White Splendor’ cultivar can reach 23 cm, while those of ‘Rosea’ cultivar – 13 cm.
