The issue of training scientific personnel is currently quite acute for Russian science. The agricultural sector has a special need. This paper provides a brief overview of state arrangements made for financial stimulation of basic and applied research carried out by postgraduates and young researchers. The paper explains the possibility for young, talented scientists to receive significant financial support from various state and non-state funds created to support and develop domestic science, Russian Academy of Sciences, and Russian Research Institute of Floriculture and Subtropical Crops.
