GROWING IRISES IN THE MIDDLE URAL

The paper describes the irises collection from the Botanical Garden of the UB RAS and reveals some features of growing irises, taking into account the weather and climatic conditions in the Middle Ural. Culture-resistant species and cultivars are considered with regard to their decorative use. The list of cultivars that have been observed in the collection for more than 10 years is given with the indication of the originators, the time of origin and the time of appearance in the collection. It approves the successful introduction of 23 retro cultivars and 13 species. The conservation status of the cultivated Iris L. species is indicated, the facts on the history of the collection fund are detailed.
