Currently, the global ecological problem is the invasion of alien species. Significant damage in the humid subtropics of Russia is caused by invasive palm pests, in particular by the South American palm borer Paysandisia archon (Burmeister, 1880). In 2020, an experiment was conducted to assess the effectiveness of various methods for protecting palm trees from stem pests. The paper evaluated an effectiveness of methods known in foreign practice, such as trunk-impregnation with chemical insecticides based on Imidacloprid, intra–trunk injection with chemical insecticides based on Imidacloprid, and trunk-impregnation with a biological preparation based on entomopathogenic nematodes. The greatest biological efficiency was shown by trunk-impregnation with the chemical insecticide (78 %).
