STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF VITICULTURE IN THE FOOTHILL ZONE OF THE REPUBLIC OF DAGESTAN

The state and development of the Foothill viticulture in the Republic of Dagestan have been evaluated; the analysis included control indicators, forms and methods of their achievement, taking into account development regulators and their dimension, organizational and economic mechanisms, as well as concentration of financial and material resources for solving priority tasks. The problems and strategic directions of restoration and further expansion of areas under vines in all regions of Dagestan have been identified, which is possible and necessary mainly only by using foothill slope lands. Scientifically-based offers have been put forward to increase the area of vineyards by more than 20–30 thousand hectares due to the introduction of modern drip irrigation systems. The development strategy provides for amendments to the regulatory and legal acts of the Republic of Dagestan. It has been found out that there is a necessity of transferring the reclamation complex in the Foothill zone of the Republic to a new technological level. It is shown that the implementation of the Strategy of innovative development of land reclamation in the Foothill zone for the period up to 2035 will allow for an increase in the gross volume of agricultural production of viticulture by 30 percent.
